RFS – DRIVING 4G FORWARD
Colombes (France), April 5, 2012 - LTE is now a reality. RFS is equipping sites in the USA and Europe and is working with the Chinese. Worldwide presence due to the technological excellence of its products and the ability to adapt to the specific technical requirements of each of its customers.
Kick-off for 4th Generation
A new digital tablet just out worldwide marks a new turning point in the technology universe: a major brand is making a version compatible with LTE (4G) available to the general public. For example, backed by a much higher speed, this technological gem will enable its users to watch a streamed film wherever they may be. The Americans will be the first to benefit from 4G services as an LTE infrastructure is already in place in the US.
The arrival of this type of device on the market will undoubtedly expand digital communication and operators are quite aware of this. The latter are embarking upon the installation of LTE infrastructures and the demand for equipment appears to be increasing at a faster rate.
For RFS, 4G represents a colossal market that is already keeping its promises: in the USA RFS supplied more than 3,000 strictly LTE antennas in 2011 and this was only the start! Today, we are producing 600 LTE multi-band antennas per week.
Innovative technological, “tailor-made” products
RFS gives maximum support to operator customers taking the major route of LTE. Firstly by equipping sites with latest-generation antennas, combiners and Hybriflex cable and its box, which feeds cables to the RRHs, but, above all, by adapting these products to the context and technical particularities of each of its customers - a characteristic of 4G is that it increases the number of variants. In fact, it is positioned on new frequencies (700 MHz in the USA and 800 and 2600 MHz in Europe…). This involves the design of new antennas, as well as multi-band antennas, to curb the increase in the number of antennas which has become impossible. RFS does not rule out any standard: whether the LTE low-frequency band, LTE high-frequency band or even the TD-LTE standard on which our teams are working for our Chinese customers.
In this “tailor-made” design approach for our products, our R&D has managed to design an antenna (not a multi-band which combines several antennas under one radome), able to handle from 1.7 to 2.7 GHz, that is to say, cover the DCS band as well as UMTS and LTE bands, using the same connector inputs and the same radiation pattern. At the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona our competitors had nothing to match this technological innovation.
