During the RFS StayConnected Days, RFS supports French installers and promotes a sustainable approach for wireless cell sites in France
Colombes, May 12, 2011 – During its RFS StayConnected Days roadshow program in France, Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, is introducing “Wood & Tower”, an environmentally friendly towering solution designed by CGTI, an RFS company. Using self-supporting towers with wood leg members and top radome, this innovative solution provides French installers with a sustainable approach to ease new wireless cell site acceptance while enhancing mobile operators’ brand image.
A successful global program, now going local in France
The RFS StayConnected Days worldwide roadshows program started in the second half of 2009. Since then, RFS has rolled out a series of very successful events in Asia, North and South America, Africa, the Middle East, India and Europe. Over 1,000 decision makers in technical, purchasing, sales and management functions, from customer companies including operators, OEMs and installation companies have attended these roadshows.
This global program, which until now concentrated in the capital cities of the visited countries, has gained a more regional and local focus in 2011. With the organization of a multi-city roadshow program in seven French cities this year, RFS stays even more closely connected to its local installer partners throughout the country.
Environmentally friendly innovations for wireless cell sites
On the occasion of the RFS StayConnected Days in France, RFS is introducing “Wood & Tower”, an environmentally friendly towering solution designed by CGTI, an RFS company. Using self-supporting towers with wood leg members and top radome, this innovative solution provides French installers with a sustainable approach to ease new wireless cell site acceptance while enhancing mobile operators’ brand image.
“Wood & Tower” is compliant with the latest design codes and norms for wireless cell site towers, such as Eurocode 1 (for wind actions), Eurocode 3 (for steel structures) and Eurocode 5 (for wood structures).
The solution is adapted to any standard equipment and accessories in compliance with telecom operators’ needs, such as access ladder, vertical cable tray, anti-falling system, anti-climbing system, lightning system, top working platform, retractable rest platform, anchors and templates.
“RFS and CGTI’ Wood & Tower solution is a sustainable approach for French installers and operators’ towering needs, that is at the same time eco-friendly and very much aesthetic“, declares Pascal Dussiau, RFS Vice President Marketing and Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “This solution uses long-lasting and widely available tree species such as larch tree or maritime pines, which allows a production out of local wood. Compared to steel manufacturing and galvanization, the use of this natural wooden resource allows for the reduction of CO2 emissions during both production and transportation. In addition to this, the design and look of this innovative solution limits the visual impact of a new site for a better landscape integration.”, concludes Dussiau.
CELLFLEX® Lite: RFS’ aluminum solution against the copper crisis
During the RFS StayConnected Days in France, RFS will also address the growing issues of copper price and security, with a proven, high-performance aluminum-based RF coaxial cable solution: RFS’ CELLFLEX® Lite.
RFS’ CELLFLEX® Lite’s corrugated aluminum cable design allows for excellent flexibility and crush resistance. The performance and reliability of CELLFLEX® Lite has been proven in the field, with not a single customer claim or return since its introduction in 2006, clearly indicating that aluminum cables can match copper for longevity and robustness. It also uses the same connectors as RFS’ CELLFLEX® copper coaxial cables, meaning that RFS’ aluminum cables can be used alongside existing copper cables, without any compatibility issue.
Trademarks: RFS®, CGTI® and CELLFLEX® Lite are registered trademarks of Radio Frequency Systems. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
