RFS presents advanced cable, antenna and Digital Switchover (DSO) broadcast solutions for the Middle East digital era at CABSAT 2012 in Dubai
Dubai, February 16, 2012 — Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, will present advanced cable, antenna and Digital Switchover (DSO) solutions engineered to secure existing broadcast investments and ease the migration to new digital standards in the Middle East at CABSAT 2012 (February 28 to March 1) in Dubai. The RFS booth (Stand S-C15) in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre will present the portfolio of RFS broadcast products, as well as holistic design capabilities that ensure that every broadcast system is optimized for the best possible performance, reliability and minimum total cost of ownership.
Featured products will include the RFS HELIFLEX® range of cable transmission lines and related Lite connectors, and RFS four-sided panel array antennas. RFS will also offer an insight into its DSO projects around the world.
“Broadcasters, wireless communications companies, transmission site owners, broadcast consultants and transmitter original equipment vendors (OEMs) in the Middle East require a variety of broadcast transmission solutions that can minimize capital and operating expenditures (CAPEX and OPEX),” said Dave Thickett, System Sales Director Broadcast. “Our booth at this year’s CABSAT show will offer solutions that can be used to optimize existing site assets, ensure availability of existing services, provide future capacity and flexibility, and enable a smooth transition from analog to the digital era.”
RFS HELIFLEX air-dielectric coaxial cables offer world-leading transmission line performance and reliability in a fast and easy to install flexible product. Available in a wide range of sizes (3/8-inch to 9-inch diameter), these cables support all analog and digital television, radio, and mobile television/media applications with unsurpassed electrical performance. They consistently deliver low VSWR and low attenuation performance across the entire broadcast band, and support the high-power requirements of multiple broadcast services.
To ensure ease of installation of all HELIFLEX cables, RFS offers HELIFLEX Lite connectors, which provide rigorously-tested mechanical integrity, extremely low loss and an attractive price/performance ratio to support the ramp-up of next-generation digital broadcast services in the Middle East and around the world.
The complete RFS broadcast portfolio also includes PCP and PEP broadband UHF panel array antennas that feature Variable Polarization Technology (VPT)* for individually-configurable polarization ratios as well as customizable, cylindrical radomes. RFS is also a world leader in the design of FM antenna systems, from low power relay sites to the highest power systems possible. Good antenna design is critical to maximizing mobile FM coverage and audience share.
“Competition for advertising revenues is fierce in the region and it’s important to find the right partner. Combined with our solution design and architecture services, and our delivery and installation monitoring services, our products make RFS a one-stop-shop for any DSO project,” said Dave Thickett. “RFS supports DSO projects around the globe. In Europe, huge projects are now under way with Rai Way in Italy and one of the most important broadcasters in Poland. Globally, RFS has a major share in the DSO rollout in Argentina. It also recently provided 5½” HELIFLEX cables and rigid lines to equip one of Japan’s tallest towers, the new Sky Tree Tower in Tokyo, thereby enabling Japan’s transition to the DSO era. All these projects are backed by more than 40 years of design innovation and product development experience in both broadcast and telecom technologies. And it’s that experience that we bring to every project, wherever it may be.”
