Network Element Manager (NEM) software
The new NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software is an integral element of RFS's innovative Optimizer RT solution set-a solution set that makes it possible for carriers to accurately control and monitor tower-top components either locally (from the tower base), or remotely from the network's operations and maintenance center (OMC).
A true end-to-end solution, the RFS Optimizer RT solution-set comprises all key antenna line elements-the control network interface (CNI), a selection of tower-mount amplifiers (TMA), an antenna control unit (ACU), a modem bias tee, plus the advanced NEM software.
The new NEM software provides users with unparalleled levels of flexibility. Unlike other network management software packages, RFS's NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software is compatible with PC and Linux platforms. It is also one of the only packages on the market that supports AISG 1.1, AISG 2.0 and Modbus protocols.
Other network management packages require separate software tools to manage each ‘device-protocol' group but RFS's NEM-ALD-S 3.0 supports all these protocols. This allows network managers to interact with older AISG 1.1-based equipment and the latest AISG 2.0-based ALDs.
The NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software provides advanced site set-up and management functionality, plus the ability to automatically scan for-and IP-identify-connected CNIs. Once operational, the software automatically scans the network and identifies all available CNIs. Most competing software packages require the user to manually locate the CNIs and are unable to manage multiple units. The NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software also permits fine-tuning of network ALDs, allowing operators to execute tilt commands for individual antennas, nominated sectors and sites, or multiple sites.
The new NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software is one of the most intuitive and user-friendly software interfaces for antenna control and monitoring. Its enhanced graphic interface and one-screen structure makes RFS's NEM software extremely easy to use. Operators can view the status screen, alarm screen and a unit-specific control screen, all in one window. This minimizes scrolling and opening of separate windows.
Installing the NEM-ALD-S 3.0 is straightforward. A short set-up process is all that is required to bring the NEM-ALD-S 3.0 management system online. It's simple Java-independent set-up and operational flexibility sets RFS's NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software apart from competing software alternatives. Advanced functionalities, such as the improved ‘commissioning wizard', and the new exportable site table of the NEM-ALD-S 3.0 software, allow network managers to fast-track network set-up and optimize network performance.
