Zoning and aesthetics

To ensure cities remain visually appealing, zoning laws limit where and how wireless equipment can be installed. And aesthetics rules limit equipment sizes, visibility range and sometimes even color options. These restrictions, however necessary, make it very challenging to deploy the right equipment in the locations needed to improve urban coverage and capacity.

Interference and density

Even when a suitable location for equipment is found, the large numbers of antennas and radios already deployed creates huge potential for wireless interference. But 5G and 6G require large numbers of access points. And spectrum is a finite resource. Minimizing interference in these densely crowded environments is essential, but increasingly difficult.
