Meriden (Connecticut), February 27, 2018 – Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), a global designer and manufacturer of cable, antenna and tower systems providing total-package solutions for wireless and broadcast infrastructure, has joined the Safer Buildings Coalition to help bring state-of-the-art voice and data communications inside buildings to increase safety for citizens and first responders.

The Safer Buildings Coalition is an independent, non-profit organization focused on advancing policies, ideas and technologies that ensure comprehensive in-building communications capabilities for public safety personnel and the people they serve. The coalition brings together the expertise and resources of wireless infrastructure and service providers, fire and building code officials, and property owners to improve fire codes and accelerate their adoption and to train and educate people about public safety communications in buildings.

“RFS is very pleased to become a member of the Safer Buildings Coalition,” said Suzanne Kasai, New Business Development Manager at RFS. “As an original equipment manufacturer of the passive cabling and antenna systems that are used to enhance wireless communications indoors, RFS is already involved in a number of public safety projects. We are strongly committed to improving public safety communications, and we look forward to sharing our expertise and experience with the coalition members.”

To help improve the reliability of communications indoors, RFS manufactures a wide range of radiating cables, plenum-rated cables, and low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) jacketed cables at its US manufacturing headquarters in Meriden, CT. RFS also manufactures highly visible and easily identifiable red-jacketed plenum and LSZH cables that are ideal for public safety deployments.

RFS cabling is used extensively by transit authorities across North America to support public safety requirements and by other organizations for fire and police radio communications. “Red plenum cables clearly differentiate the customer’s public safety footprint and allow easy identification of those key communication lines,” said Gabe Adams, Business Development Manager for In-Building Solutions at RFS.

“The Safer Buildings Coalition welcomes RFS,” said Alan Perdue, Executive Director at SBC. “RFS is a leader in wireless communications globally and is known for its dedication to providing solutions with the highest levels of safety certification. The team at RFS is in an excellent position to provide the SBC with project support and technology leadership in public safety communications and we look forward to working with them.”
