RFS Makes Multi-Million Euro Investment in its Global Factory Infrastructure
Radio Frequency Systems, a specialist in the design and manufacture of premium, future-ready cable solutions, today announced it has made a multi-million Euro investment to upgrade several key aspects of its factory setups in Hannover, Germany, and Suzhou, China, over the last 12 months.
RFS prides itself on offering top-end, innovative, long-life cable solutions that deliver ROI for customers and support a broad range of connectivity and regulatory requirements. To stay at the forefront of this, investment in infrastructure has been essential, with RFS undertaking multiple key projects in the last year, including:
- Investing in R&D
RFS has invested in R&D projects across both sites. The launch of a Private 5G network at the Hannover site is both improving RFS processes through connected systems and functioning as a testing area for customer projects. In Suzhou, new high-precision lace machines are enhancing R&D capabilities and at the same time supporting the fullfilment of bespoke small-batch orders. - Enhancing CPR Testing and Capacity
RFS has undertaken multiple projects to support its CPR capabilities, including a new 5G connected burn chamber for on-site testing in Hannover. The company has also renovated and upgraded an additional jacketing line in Hannover to facilitate the manufacture of CPR-compliant coatings. - Increasing Capacity
A new punching machine again at the Hannover site has increased manufacturing capacity for RADIAFLEX radiating/leaky feeder cable to meet increased demand from vertical markets. - Improving Dual Factory Supply
RFS has invested in upgrades to enable dual factory supply for all major products and ensure global business continuity. This has included installing a new tape winder in Suzhou for the production of fire-resistant cable to meet global standards, including CPR, across both manufacturing sites. - Optimizing Processes
RFS has upgraded its TIG welding and capstan systems in Suzhou to optimize the corrugation process essential for the manufacture of longitudinally welded coaxial cables. A new, additional welding and corrugation line has also been installed to further increase the throughput of CELLFLEX cable.
Ekkehard Schomburg, Managing Director, RFS GmbH commented, “Regulatory compliance is such a high priority for our customers, it is critical for us to invest in ensuring we are at the top of our game when it comes to developing and producing fire-resistant cable. The investments in Hannover are crucial to supporting this, with more planned over the next 12 months.”
Yu Lin, Head of Manufacturing Operations, RFS Suzhou commented “The last 12 months have seen increased demand from vertical industries in all regions for RFS solutions. The investments across both sites, but particularly Suzhou are key to enabling us to meet global demand, maintaining best-in-class quality that deliver ROI for customers.”
